Flexible, versatile, different

The Rude Mechanicals are versatile multi-instrumentalists performing a wide range of music including traditional folk-dance tunes, contemporary material and miscellaneous musical indulgences.

Based in Sussex, England, the Mechanicals are Barry Ruffell, Ray Chandler, Mick Parker, Ian Chisholm and Annie Messerschmidt. The musical style is informal, the repertoire extensive and adaptable, and the playing distinctive.

The Rude Mechanicals

The instrumental armoury of the
Rude Mechanicals covers strings, free-reeds, wind, keyboards and percussion. Depending on the material to be played, the tools used might include orchestral, popular and ethnic instruments.

They include: fiddle, guitar, flute, piccolo, whistles, nyckelharpa, concertina, accordion, piano, keyboards, mandolin, mandola, banjo, bodhran, brass, reeds ... to mention
just a few!

The band is equally at home playing for receptions, business events, in music clubs, bars, festivals, concerts and private functions. Acoustic or amplified as required.
